Our purpose of changing lives through music has borne fruit since our beginnings
Arpegio is where I call my home, my family. There, I grew both as a musician and as a person, and until today I owe a large part of my own development to Arpegio. What’s more, it has given me the incredible experience of meeting wonderful friends and being able to make music with them. I am currenlty pursuing studies in Lima with my teacher Carlos Costa, and am preparing to audition for schools outside of Peru.
For me, music used to just be a hobby, but when I entered Arpegio, it was suddenly like, “Wow, this is pretty cool” and I really got into it. Ever since being there, I have learned new things, not only about music, but about myself, and the lives of people who come from different places. I now think about the common good before that of individuals, and want to be a part of sustaining a culture that is lively and inclusive. Thanks to Arpegio, I see music as a cause to which I want to dedicate every day. It is more than just the desire to become a better musician and better person – it is to help those who need it and to give back what Arpegio gave to me.
I remember arriving to Arpegio during a city blackout. It was during a difficult time in my life. But upon arriving there, the doors opened welcomingly and from that moment, Arpegio became my second home. I am now 21, I live in Lima and am part of the most important youth orchestra in my country. I have friends scattered all around the world – friends who, like me, left home only with dreams. Arpegio and the Orquesta de Barro were the beginning of my goals and hopes – the beginning of my life.
